Use of Space at the Light House Project

The mission of the Light House Project is to empower the youth by providing fiscal sponsorships and programs that give youth resources and tools to have a voice in our community and beyond. By doing so, LHP gives Muslim youth a space metaphorically and physically to feel safe to display their Muslim identity.

The physical space of the Light House Project is located on the 2nd floor of 1127 Kildaire Farm Road. The space includes office space, meeting/conference rooms, and a large prayer/hang out space. The vision of the LHP space is that it becomes a hub of young Muslim activity, and allows programs and individuals to create a network of like-minded people within a designated space. The use of the space has been determined by the LHP as follows***:

Office Space (dedicated space in which an entity can set up their work space, that is reserved for only their use)

  • Office space is available on a first come first serve basis.
  • LHP incubator programs (fiscally sponsored programs) will be given space free of charge for as long as they are sponsored by the LHP
  • Nonprofit organizations whose mission aligns with LHP will be rented available office space at a 50% discount rate under a lease agreement
  • For profit organizations whose mission aligns with LHP will be rented available office space at subsidized leasing rate

Meeting Space (space that is made temporarily available for one time or regularly scheduled meetings/events)

  • LHP programs and incubator programs will get priority when reserving a space for events and meetings free of charge
  • Nonprofit organizations whose mission aligns with LHP may use the space for meetings but will be secondary to LHP programs, free of charge
  • For profit organizations whose mission aligns with LHP may use the space for meetings but will be tertiary to LHP and nonprofit programs, and will be charged a small fee* (*fee will depend on what the need entails and how often it will be used. **if the organization is already renting an office space, the use will be included in the rental, but use will be tertiary to the above mentioned programs)

Event Space (space needed for larger, one time events such as a conference or lecture, etc)

  • The LHP does not have a large space available to rent but the prayer/hang out space can be reserved for events up to 50 people (no shoes or furniture is allowed in this space)
  • LHP programs and incubator programs will get priority when reserving the space, free of charge
  • Nonprofit organizations whose mission aligns with LHP may reserve the space but will be secondary to LHP programs and will be charged a fee at a 50% discount rate (based on the type of event, timings, etc)
  • For profit organizations whose mission aligns with LHP may reserve the space but will be tertiary to LHP and nonprofit programs and will be charged a fee at full rate (based on type of event, timings, etc)

Notes

  • Private parties may rent or use the space at the discretion of LHP and the building owner
  • Liability forms are required of a responsible member of all parties renting or using the space
  • Any damage to the property or any LHP items during use of space is the responsibility of the renter of the space
  • Anyone using the space must be respectful of the space, keep it clean, and leave the space as it was before renting
  • Renters must be mindful that other parties may be in the space and therefore keep a respectful tone during their meetings and gatherings
